Thank you so much for checking on me! For those of you who don’t know me…here is my story!
In October of 2011, the Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center learned that their lease terms would not be renewed at the end of that year. The Center immediately halted all intake (except for previously adopted animals requiring assistance) and began the search for a new location. On October 25th, the Center learned of a previously adopted cat that was at the local animal control facility. All attempts to locate the adopter failed. While at animal control picking up the cat, I made myself known to the Center representative by reaching out of my cage and tapping her on the head! (I was a stray being held in the cage above the cat she was retrieving.) She was immediately struck by my fabulous toes! Even though the Center had ceased new intake, she couldn’t resist my charm! Two days later when my stray period expired, she returned to pick me up!
A few days later, I was featured on the local news during filming of a segment about the loss of the Center’s lease and the rest is history! Humans around the world were instantly enchanted by my toes and they began to pledge $1/toe to assist the Center in their quest for a property to purchase! Almost 3,000 friends of the animals assisted and a few months later, the Center used the funds raised to place a down payment on a permanent property! Open since April 28th, 2012, the Center is doing well but still needs your help!

November 2012 Update:
I am still raising funds to pay the balance of the mortgage on my home and to renovate the outbuilding. The outbuilding will showcase our dogs for adoption and will be used as a meeting space for our volunteers as well as our youth group and to host special events and fundraisers.
